Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire – 15 January 2025 – As part of its mandate to promote the regional government securities market, UMOA-Titres (UT) is pleased to announce the 7th edition of the Government Securities Market Meetings (REMTP), to be held on 21 and 22 January 2025 at the Novotel Adagio Marcory in Abidjan. This flagship event, dedicated to the issues and challenges facing the sovereign debt market in the WAEMU region, will bring together key players from the regional financial sector, including institutional investors, issuers, and market partners.
The theme of this year’s edition is:
“Mobilising Domestic Savings: What Requirements Are Needed to Support the Development of the Financial Market in the WAMU Area?”
Under this central theme, the 2025 Meetings will focus on issues that are critical to the development of the regional financial market. Discussions will address the mobilisation of domestic savings to support economic growth and strengthen the regional sovereign debt market, a vital instrument for financing the Union’s Member States. In addition, topics such as enhancing the participation of institutional investors, financial education, and the digitalisation of financial services will also be explored.
The event will provide a unique platform for dialogue on the strategic directions required for the development of the government securities market, the presentation of the 2025 government securities issuance programme, and the strengthening of relationships between issuers and investors. In this regard, networking opportunities and one-to-one sessions are planned, enabling participants to gain a better understanding of the economic outlook of WAEMU States and their financing strategies.
This new edition will also stand out through several innovations. These include a new format for issuer interventions featuring interactive country conversations, as well as the opportunity for participants to benefit from dedicated sessions between issuers and their investors. In addition, two masterclasses and expert contributions will enrich the discussions on current issues related to the central theme.
Participants will also have the opportunity to network in dedicated spaces for bilateral meetings and during informal moments such as coffee breaks, lunch breaks, and an evening cocktail reception.
Ms Oulimata NDIAYE DIASSE, Director of UMOA-Titres, stated:
“The 2025 Government Securities Market Meetings (REMTP) represent a strategic opportunity to strengthen dialogue between issuers and investors, while also promoting practical solutions to mobilise domestic savings in support of our region’s economic development. This event reflects our commitment to supporting the stability and growth of the sovereign debt market, a key pillar in financing WAMU Member States. We look forward to bringing market participants together for constructive and innovative discussions that will further enhance the attractiveness of our regional market.”
